Punaura Dham, Sitamarhi

Punaura Dham is a very sacred and historical place located in Sitamarhi district of Bihar, which is considered to be the birthplace of Mata Sita. According to religious beliefs, King Janak found Sita ji in a golden pot while plowing the land here, which is known as Sita Kund.

The Janaki temple located here is very grand and full of reverence. Thousands of devotees come here every year on Ramnavami, Sita Navami and other religious occasions. The temple complex has a statue of Sita Mata, a place of worship and a havan mandap, which further enhance the religious significance.

Punaura Dham is a major Ramayana circuit site, which is also being developed by the central and state government. The atmosphere here is full of devotion, culture and tradition.

Punaura Dham is a special place, especially for those devotees and tourists who want to experience the story of Mata Sita closely. Panth Pakar, Janaki Sthan Temple, and Janaki Kund located nearby are also worth seeing.
